Brazilian Tactical Police Unit(ROTAM)

These Guys are always serious whenever you see them and they don't harass anyone but they go for the people that break the law and when I was at the independence day celebrations I was able to take this picture below, read more about ROTAM.

The Tactical Ostensive Rounds, known as ROTAM, are elite operational units of the military police, which operate in several Brazilian states, were created in the state of Goiás around 1981. The acronym may refer to the Metropolitan Tactical Ostensive Rounds of the Military Police in the states of Goiás, Tocantins and Minas Gerais; or the Motorized Tactical Ostensive Rounds in the states of Espírito Santo, Alagoas, Mato Grosso, Amapá, Pará, Acre, Paraná and Distrito Federal.

The various ROTAM was conceived in light of the results of the ROTA (Ronda Ostensiva Tobias Aguiar) in the state of São Paulo, for their faster and more energetic approaches in more serious security cases, such as theft of banks and vehicles. They emerged mainly between the 1970s and 1980s due to the increase in the number of bank robberies, which made it necessary to create specialized tactical military police battalions, training and using police officers with rigorous and differentiated training to carry out approaches with vehicles and heavier weaponry in situations where conventional policing does not get the best results.

With its highly agile displacement, it also acts in the mission of controlling civil disturbances, resuming critical points, places of homicide of highly dangerous criminals and restoring public order when the units in the area no longer control the situation.
